Things They Say

When the boys were practicing for the Primary Program last month, Rusty got his line a little confused.   He was very proud of himself for being able to say it by himself even if it did sometimes come out, “Me Rusty.  Me lego builder.  Most important me son of Jesus!”

On October 29th, as part of our dinnertime conversation, I asked the boys what tomorrow was.  Ricky quickly answered, “Black Friday!  No … wait …”  We had a good laugh at that since the next day wasn’t even Friday, let alone the biggest shopping day of the year!  Billy’s guess was “Hallo-eve.”  I was going for Halloween Eve, but since it isn’t a real holiday, their answers were close enough for me!

While driving around one day, we passed a construction site.  Rusty said, “When I grow up, I’m gonna be a worker.  I’m gonna build a castle.” [By worker, he means a builder/construction type dude.]

Another time in the car, Rusty asked, “Momma, do you have a sub-vehicle button?” (you know, a button to turn my van into a submarine … naturally) When I told him I didn’t he said, “I think you need one.  You should put one on the van.”

I asked Rusty to fetch me a burp cloth for Bobby one day.  Tommy said, “Momma needs two.  I will get the two-th one!” (He and Rusty also often say three-th and one-th.  I should probably correct them more, but I do find this particularly cute-beside, Kevin corrects them for me.)

While enjoying one of the last warm afternoons of fall, Kevin and Tommy were laying on the lawn while I put up Christmas decorations.  The garbage truck came up the street and Tommy watched it dump the trash.  As the truck turned the corner, it made a beeping/ringing noise.  Tommy said, “Huh!  The garbage man is getting a phone call!”
