Camping at Stateline

We met up with our friends, the Bucks, for a Friday and Saturday in the Uintah Mountains at Stateline Reservoir.   We were ready for some camping, fishing, geo-caching, and kayaking fun!

As part of his scouting requirements, Ricky needed to plan and lead a campfire program.  Billy and Rusty needed to participate in one, so that worked out perfectly.  They got Tommy involved and we prayed, had a spiritual thought, sang some songs, and watch a few skits.  I’m a fan of my boys!

Saturday morning we went to Bridger Lake to do some fishing.  Few things are cuter than a row of boys hiking to the lake with fishing poles in tow…

I set up a chair in the shade next to my friend Becca and just enjoyed watching.  I’m not really a fan of fishing myself.  Rusty went right to work doing his business and shocked us all when he quickly brought over the first caught fish!  Then he made his mother scream and jump as he dropped it on her chair!!

Billy was a solitary fisherman.  He kept working his way down the shore to remote places where he could fish by himself.

Ricky caught a lot of seaweed stuff.  But he looked good doing it!!

What a beautiful view!!  And my boys being a part of it made this momma’s heart happy!  The fact that we were only catch and release fishing made me happy, too!

Seven happy campers!

For Father’s Day, Kevin got two 2-man inflatable kayaks (yellow).  Between those and the Buck’s canoe and single kayaks, everyone got some time paddling on Stateline Reservoir.

I love watching the boys growing up and experiencing these activities!

Another fun experience inspired by a scout requirement was geo-caching.  Ricky had started the merit badge at Scout Camp but hadn’t been able to finish.  We drove and hiked around and the boys found several caches.  This one was under a rock …

And Rusty found this one in a tree…

While the boys were hunting for caches, Billy would pick me a flower.  I added each one to the dashboard of the Yukon.  Billy is sweet like that.  A couple months later, they are still there!  Only now they aren’t so pretty and are just waiting to be vacuumed up!

Here’s our friend Brian with a mix of his and our kids enjoying the canoe…

Friday night, they did a little fishing at Stateline.  I’m pretty sure Bobby and Lilly did more scaring of the fish than anything!

Sunset fishing makes for adorable pictures… (Rusty and Tommy)

Billy was successful!

It would have been nice to spend a couple more days enjoying nature with this crew, but even just a couple of days is good for my soul!  I love adventuring with them!

Heck, I just love them!
